Law Society considers Family Court Review report

The New Zealand Law Society will carefully consider the proposals announced by the Minister of Justice for changes to the Family Court, the chair of the Law Society’s Family Law Section, Garry Collin, says

He says the Law Society’s Family Law Section will now study the proposed changes in detail and assess their likely impact on all parties who use the Family Courts.

“Maintaining a workable and efficient Family Court system which enables families to resolve their disputes is our key concern,” he says.

Mr Collin says the Minister has announced that legislation to implement the proposed changes would be introduced in late 2012 and the Law Society will be making submissions on this.
